Join CCL as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow

The Center for Collective Learning (CCL) is a multidisciplinary research group focused on economic geography, urban science, and complex systems under the leadership of Professor César A. Hidalgo.

We are opening an 18-month postdoctoral research fellow on economic complexity. The position will contribute to the European Lighthouse on AI for Sustainability (ELIAS) consortia.


Synopsis

We are looking for a postdoctoral research fellow interested in economic complexity: a field of research on the intersection of machine learning and economic development. The ideal candidate will have a strong research background on quantitative methods and previous publications on economic complexity, economic geography, or a related topic. The candidate will work together with other scholars focused on economic complexity at the Center for Collective Learning at the Institute of Advanced Studies (IAST) at the Toulouse School of Economics.

About the role

  • The postdoc will work closely with Professor César Hidalgo and other members of CCL on research projects focused on economic complexity.

  • The research fellow will contribute to milestones and deliverables of the ELIAS project and will participate of conferences and in reporting duties.

  • This is a full-time, 18-month position (could be renewed based on performance and availability of funding).

About you

  • The ideal candidate will be fluent in English

  • The candidate has a good publication record on economic complexity or related fields.

  • Completed or soon to complete PhD (PhD must be fully defended before starting the position).

  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team on specific projects, under the guidance of a PI.
