Join CCL as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow
The Center for Collective Learning (CCL) is a multidisciplinary research group focused on economic geography, urban science, and complex systems under the leadership of Professor César A. Hidalgo.
We are opening a two-year position on city science, citizen participation, and city improvement supported by the Driving Urban Transitions partnership. The partnership focuses on advancing the quality and vibrancy of urban neighborhoods. The ideal candidate will have strong computational, analytical, and experimental skills.
Synopsis
We are looking for a postdoctoral research fellow interested on city science, including conducting experiments to understand people’s preferences over urban environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong research background on quantitative methods backed by a good publication record of peer-reviewed articles and/or working papers. The candidate should be willing to (or open to) organize and run human-subject experiments to collect primary data on urban perception in collaboration with the research engineer and outside partners, and will be invited to collaborate with other researchers from the international consortia.
About the role
The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with other members of CCL (including professor Hidalgo) on research projects related to urban perception and amenities.
The postdoctoral fellow is expected to contribute to the delivery and reporting of the milestones and deliverables of the DUT project, which includes presenting at conferences, participating in the organization of workshops, and completing technical reports to the funder.
This is a full-time, two-year position (24 months)
About you
The ideal candidate will be fluent in English and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The candidate has a strong research background on quantitative methods, and a good publication record.
Has recently completed a PhD or plans to complete one before starting the position.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team on specific projects, under the guidance of a PI.
Ability to write written reports to satisfy the funding requirements supporting their postdoctoral fellowship.
